The document was an account of Muhammad’s life journey of growing up to become the prophet and his personal
encounter of God himself. The author emphasized that Muhammad was a virtuous man who had favor from God when he
was growing up and that his journey and virtue had been approved by many other people. And his personal encounter of
God was real that he even received covenant and vision from God himself
As the document unwraps Muhammad’s life, the author had been indicating that he is the true prophet God desires and
that he would be the one carry out God’s work.
At the beginning the author already explicitly expressed that “he grew up to be the finest of his people in manliness, the
best in character, most noble in lineage, the best neighbor, the most kind, truthful, reliable, the furthest removed from
filthiness and corrupt morals through loftiness and nobility, so that he was known among his people as ‘ the trustworthy’”
(148). The virtues Muhammad possessed were so great that he became a well respected man in the community, which
was the first step of becoming the prophet.
This very fine young man on his business trip to Syria was complemented by a monk that “none but a prophet ever sat
beneath this tree”(148). Here again Muhammad was to be considered a prophet by not just anyone, but a monk, a holy
servant of God. The author had put Muhammad on a position that even a holy servant recognized him as a prophet. On
his way back to Khadija Khadija’s servant witnessed a miracle that two Angles were shading over Muhammad, such scene
had gave Muhammad a image that God was protecting him that He has a personal connection to Muhammad, and He
does.
The author provided a background information that God himself would make covenant with the prophets he desires; and
indeed he made the same covenant with Muhammad, indicated that he is the one God desires and God picked.
Muhammad’s vision that God sent Gabriel to be with Muhammad had again show that God valued His relationship with
Muhammad and wished to establish a personal relationship with him.
